2016 // A Year of Travel

2016 was by far our craziest year thus far! We were fortunate enough to start the year with a five week trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. We filmed for 35 days straight and kept a video journal of the entire trip and we plan to release the long-form documentary version of that trip later this year (hopefully)! In Italy we attended a family wedding and were introduced to some secluded spots from the locals in Puglia before we headed to the Amalfi Coast where we were blown away by the beauty of Positano. Our wedding videography business (Quixotic Weddings) took us to New York, San Francisco and other destinations throughout California. Inspired by the time lapses we captured of the NYC skyline, we also decided to sneak away for a couple days to Joshua Tree to film Milky Way time lapses. It was truly an incredible year and we feel so grateful for all the experiences we've had and all the wonderful people we met along the way. Here is our attempt to capture the adventure in 3 minutes! :) Throughout the year we filmed with 6 cameras: Sony A7Sii, Canon 5Diii, 5Div & 1DXii, iPhone 6s and GoPro Hero 4 and surprisingly we were able to blend the footage fairly well! We filmed a lot of the year in 4k so we decided to make this our first 4k video. Hope you enjoy!! Music licensed through The Music Bed

We don't often get to do passion projects but when we do, we try to go big!! 2016 was a wonderful year for us in a lot of different ways but if we boiled it down to one word to capture the essence of the year: travel! We were lucky enough to start the year traveling around Asia, spending weeks in Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. Later in the year, we attended a family wedding in Italy and made a nice trip out of it, traveling from coast to coast, falling in love with the country every step of the way. In addition to our international travel, our weddings took us coast to coast in the US as we shot our first NYC wedding as well as weddings up and down the California coast. And to top it all off, we managed to sneak away to Joshua Tree to film some Milky Way time lapses as we lounged in a hot tub drinking wine! 2016 is a year that will never be forgotten but we can't wait to see what adventures await us in the 2017! Happy New Years everyone!!

I don't think we have ever laughed as hard during vows as with these two - they're hilarious! But underneath all the jokes and laughter is a love that runs deep - you can see it in their eyes when they look at each other and you can feel it permeated throughout all of their friends and family! We just finished our 100th wedding this past weekend and we've been looking back at the amazing adventure our business has been over the past four years!
